Located in Sydney’s Southwest, the State electorate of Fairfield runs between Prairiewood and Chester Hill from East to West, and Georges Hall to Smithfield from South to North. It captures the suburbs of Bass Hill, Canley Heights, Canley Vale, Carramar, Chester Hill, Fairfield, Fairfield East, Fairfield Heights, Fairfield West, Georges Hall, Lansdowne, Old Guildford, Prairiewood, Smithfield, Villawood, Wakeley, and Yennora.

The district of Fairfield is home to approximately 99,365 people and occupies an area of 30 square kilometres.

The seat was established in 1953.

Fairfield is a culturally diverse area, with 54.6% of the population born overseas.

Apart from English, the main languages spoken in the home are Vietnamese, Arabic, Assyrian Neo-Aramaic, Cantonese and Khmer.

Fairfield is also incredibly religiously diverse, 46.9% of residents identifying as Christian, 15.2% as Buddhist and 14.3% as Islamic.
